"The intersection between people that love to climb and people that love to party is extremely narrow"
This section is dedicated to the lauding, complaints and itinerary optimization opportunities associated with a well rounded trip to Las Vegas
The Climbing Experience:
Lauding:
Mostly steep incut climbing
Easy to follow routes
Scenery and aesthetics
Complaints:
Nasty plants on approach
Rainy days require drying out period
Brad is very limited in the technique department but high in the strength department. Redrocks is appealing for him due to mostly steep and incut climbing on good holds. Although footwork is important, it is perhaps not the primary emphasis at Redrocks. Moreover, the climbing is also well suited to him in that it is mostly well protected and easy for the grade.
The approaches to the canyons can be long and frustrating. Mercifully most hardship can be abated with ample research using the plethora of information available on mountain project and in the Handren guidebook.
There is a perfect mix of multi-pitches (long, short, easy and hard) as well as crag options to manage rest days.
The Extra Climb-ricular Experience:
Lauding:
POOL PARTIES
Accommodation choice
Easy logistics
Complaints:
Nightclubs have started to feel a bit commercialized
Higher costs
Petty crime
With all that confidence and body toning from climbing, why not hit the strip and indulge in a pool party.
These parties are world class, high energy and often feature a loose (yet professional) crowd. We love the big drinks at Encore Beach Club and Wet Republic.
Channel the ambition, determination, strength and endurance needed for climbing towards a bender on the strip. Its really the same skill set just directed differently!!!
"We love you D Guetta" - he shouted at the DJ with reckless abandon
Suggested Itinerary:
Just over a week here is ideal
Fri: Fly out after work, grab the rental and load up on groceries
Sat- Wed: Climbing days including multipitches and cragging days
Thurs: Hit a harder climb (this will build confidence and maximize pump for the latter part of the trip) , then drop of the rental car and make your way to the strip
Fri-Sun: Party Time
Mon: Go home
Useful Tips and Tricks:
Find an Airbnb on the south or west end of town
Don't grab the sports car from the emerald aisle at national (you'll need something burly for black velvet canyon)
Book your tickets ahead of time for best pricing at the pool parties
Palazzo is a great hotel choice for the strip
